Model40 Night Stand Bag

 

Over a cup of coffee, I posed the above scenario to His Editorship. What can you keep your extra stuff in and still have it small and simple enough to be user friendly? After some rough sketches on napkins we came up with the “night stand bag” concept. Small enough, but still with room for a phone, backup gun, OC spray, small trauma kit and enough room to holster your handgun if necessary. The front has slots for magazines, lights or knives. To carry it is a simple adjustable shoulder or neck strap. Remember, this is a grab and go piece of gear not a rucksack. The idea was simple to come up with but who could make the vision and scribbles into a working piece of gear? I called Jerry Haugen of Haugen Handgun leather and ran the idea by him. His response? Send him the sketch and he would do the rest. This was way too easy. The bag shown is the first attempt and if I may say, Jerry hit the bull’s eye on the first shot. In fact he overbuilt it, but what else could I expect from a guy who knows only one way how to make leather gear — 100 percent quality and reliability.
